The wonderful legend of the Buddha. I read this work with even more interest than the Bhagavad-Gitā (Mahatma Gandhi)

The author reveals to us that he sought to depict, through the intermediary of an imaginary Buddhist devotee (identified with Sir Arnold by some), the life and character of the Hindu prince Gautama, founder of Buddhism, and to make known the philosophy of this noble hero and reformer. Although the French translation could not render this poem into verse, the evocative and poetic power remained intact.
